Schneetag at Snowmass!

11_Schneetag_AngryBirds.jpg

You have a little over a week to prepare for the 7th annual Schneetag closing day competition at Snowmass on April 20. Schneetag is German for "snow day" and this ridiculously silly event pits teams of four who drive a human-powered vehicle down the Spider Sabich slope, over a jump and into a 75 x 20 foot pond. If this sounds like your kind of fun, you'll need to get cracking on building your "vehicle" and coercing three friends to join you. For details on how you can sign up, visit www.aspensnowmass.com.

Shortsfest Begins Today

We are fortunate in Aspen to have the opportunity to attend terrific cultural events throughout the year. One of the most enjoyable of these events is Aspen Film's Shortsfest. A week-long celebration of short films that most people never have a chance to view. Shortsfest begins today at the Wheeler Opera House. Each program screens an hour and a half worth of films, none longer than 40 minutes and some as short as 90 seconds. Audiences vote on their favorites, which are announced at the end of the week. Bacon, Bacon, Bacon

Buttermilk Mountain closes tomorrow, April 6. But all we can think about today is bacon. Tomorrow is annual Bacon Appreciation Day at Buttermilk and if you thought that bacon was just for breakfast - think again! You can indulge in your bacon fantasy all day, from 9am bacon waffles at the top of the Summit Express to afternoon bacon desert at Bumps or bacon-inspired cocktails at 4pm. Better eat your veggies today to offset the bacon tomorrow!
